Originally established as James River Coffee Company in Midlothian, Virginia by Steve Opilla in 1990, we merged with Carytown Coffee on July 1, 2009, to form Carytown Coffee. In November 2012, we began operating a full service coffee and espresso bar located at 2425 Colony Crossing Place in Midlothian, Virginia (formerly Colony Coffee).
Our company has been supplying Virginia and the mid-Atlantic as a premium coffee service provider, distributor, importer and roaster for over two decades. We import the highest quality green bean coffee from countries all over the world. All of our coffees are perfectly roasted and blended right here in Chesterfield County.
Carytown is an urban retail district lining Cary Street at the southern end of the Museum District in Richmond, Virginia. The district includes independent retail shops, boutiques, restaurants, and offices. Located near The Fan District, the area is historically known for its bohemian flair. Carytown is also home to the annual Carytown Watermelon Festival, one of the largest festivals in Virginia.
While we no longer have a storefront in the Carytown district, Carytown Coffee's bulk and drip coffee is available at various markets and restaurants on or around Cary Street. In paritcular, our coffee can be purchased at The Fresh Market (bulk coffee), Mary Angela's Pizzeria (coffee by the cup), Capitol Coffee and "The Daily".
